Customer Account Manager
A well-established Midlands-based haulage and logistics business is seeking an experienced Customer Account Manager to manage and develop key customer relationships across its transport operation.
This role is focused on customer retention, service performance, and account development. Acting as the central link between customers and internal operations, the successful candidate will ensure service levels are met while identifying opportunities to grow and strengthen existing accounts.

The Role
Customer Relationship Management
- Act as the primary point of contact for allocated customer accounts
- Build and maintain long-term, trusted client relationships
- Ensure customer requirements and service level agreements (SLAs) are fully understood and consistently delivered
- Manage customer queries, service issues, and escalations in a professional and timely manner
Account & Service Management
- Monitor daily and ongoing service performance across assigned accounts
- Liaise closely with transport planners and operational teams to ensure smooth delivery
- Proactively identify and resolve potential service issues before they impact the customer
- Track and report on KPIs including on-time delivery, claims, and service compliance
Commercial & Account Development
- Support contract renewals, pricing discussions, and service reviews
- Identify opportunities for additional services, increased volumes, or operational efficiencies
- Assist with onboarding new customers and implementing new contracts
- Maintain accurate account records, pricing details, and customer documentation
Administration & Reporting
- Prepare regular customer performance reports and attend review meetings
- Maintain CRM systems and customer files with a high level of accuracy
- Ensure all customer communications, agreements, and changes are fully documented
About You
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience in customer account management within haulage, transport, or logistics
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to manage multiple accounts in a fast-paced operational environment
- Excellent problem-solving and organisational ability
- Confident using TMS systems, CRM tools, and MS Office
Desirable
- Knowledge of UK haulage operations and compliance
- Experience working with SLAs and contract management
- Commercial awareness with basic pricing knowledge
