Business Development Manager

A well-established Midlands-based logistics and warehousing business is seeking a commercially driven Storage & Haulage Sales Executive to support continued growth across its ambient warehousing operation.

This is a new business–focused role centred on selling pallet storage space and associated logistics services to manufacturers, distributors, importers, and retailers. The successful candidate will play a key role in maximising warehouse occupancy while developing long-term, profitable customer relationships.

This opportunity suits a confident, resilient B2B sales professional with experience in logistics, warehousing, or industrial services.

The Role

Sales & Business Development

  • Sell pallet storage space to new and existing customers
  • Proactively generate leads through cold calling, email outreach, networking, and referrals
  • Identify both short-term and long-term storage requirements
  • Prepare, present, and negotiate pricing, contracts, and service agreements
  • Maximise warehouse utilisation and pallet occupancy
  • Upsell additional services including haulage and value-added logistics solutions

Customer Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong, long-term client relationships
  • Develop a clear understanding of customer supply chain and storage needs
  • Act as the main point of contact from initial enquiry through onboarding
  • Work closely with warehouse and transport operations to ensure seamless service delivery

Market & Commercial Insight

  • Monitor local market conditions, competitor activity, and pricing trends
  • Identify opportunities to expand accounts through related services
  • Maintain accurate CRM records, forecasts, and sales pipelines

Collaboration & Reporting

  • Liaise regularly with warehouse managers and operational teams
  • Provide structured sales activity and performance reports
  • Ensure sales commitments align with capacity and operational constraints

About You

Essential Requirements

  • Proven B2B sales experience (logistics, warehousing, transport, or industrial services preferred)
  • Strong negotiation and closing ability
  • Confident, professional communicator
  • Highly self-motivated, target-driven, and results-focused
  • Commercial understanding of warehouse capacity and pricing models
  • Full UK driving licence

Desirable

  • Experience selling pallet storage or warehouse space
  • Knowledge of ambient warehousing operations
  • Existing contacts within manufacturing, retail, or distribution sectors
  • CRM system experience
