Senior Principal Designer

Greys Specialist Recruitment are recruiting a Senior Principal Designer for a construction consultancy, managing a varied portfolio of projects and providing practical CDM and construction health and safety advice.

You’ll take ownership of projects, work closely with clients and design teams, and support the development of junior colleagues.

The role

- Deliver Principal Designer and CDM advisory services, coordinating health and safety during pre-construction.
- Lead design risk reviews, identify foreseeable hazards and challenge proposals where required.
- Prepare pre-construction information and health and safety files, and review construction phase plans and RAMS.
- Attend project meetings and undertake site inspections, providing clear advice and reports.
- Manage client relationships, project fees, workload and invoicing, alongside mentoring junior team members.

What you’ll need

- At least five years’ experience delivering the CDM Principal Designer role.
- Strong knowledge of CDM 2015, construction processes and design risk management, including the ability to interpret drawings.
- Current APS membership at IMaPS level or above.
- A relevant construction or built environment qualification, or substantial practical experience.
- Clear communication, confident client management and the ability to manage projects independently.
- A full, clean UK driving licence and access to a suitable vehicle for business travel.

A relevant NEBOSH qualification would be advantageous.

The package

Up to £60,000 plus car allowance, 25 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays, and private medical cover following probation.

The role is home-based, with regular travel to sites and client meetings. Occasional overnight stays may be required.
