Full Job Description

Greys Specialist Recruitment are working with a Trust who are looking for a Clinical Coder to join their wonderful Coding team.  You will be joining a high-performing Trust which looks after and appreciates its workforce.

They offer a remote model of working with their staff working from home with flexible start times.

You, the candidate, must have clinical coding experience in an NHS setting, and you will hold the National Clinical Coding Qualification (ACC).

The post holder will be responsible for extracting highly complex clinical information from paper and electronic health records, to translate relevant medical terminology using international and national classifications.

The post holder is required to produce consistent, accurate, complete and timely coded clinical data in accordance with all national standards, local coding polices and commissioner deadlines.

The post holder will be required to consistently deliver against demanding deadlines and accountable for maintaining accuracy and compliance with frequently changing national standards and coding conventions.

Ensure KPIs and targets are consistently achieved, for both throughput and accuracy of clinical coding.

To work autonomously without direct instruction or supervision when self-allocating work and achievement of daily coding targets

Ensure compliance with all relevant Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) applicable to the clinical coding service.

To be proactive and flexible in moving towards an electronic way of working within a clinical coding setting, as the Trust develops its electronic patient record and achieves its strategic objective of becoming a ‘paper-lite’ organisation. 

As a Senior Clinical Coder you will be required to demonstrate an extensive understanding of ICD-10 and OPCS4 classifications as well as a thorough understanding of national clinical coding standards and conventions. You will act as a mentor to Trainee Clinical Coders where necessary.

You will be highly organised, with excellent verbal and written communication skills and the confidence to develop effective working relationships with colleagues across disciplines and at all levels within the Trust. The role requires excellent attention to detail and above all, a genuine interest in the recording and analysis of data.
